stereo

Hey Everone newbie here

I just put in a aftermarket stereo, Eq, amp, subs, seperates, bt, Ipod, and sirus. I think that covers it. I am getting engine noise when the sereo is on the higher the rpm the louder it gets. Anyone else have this problem. If so what did you do to resolve it, we have tried a couple different noise supressors and they did not work. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Where are you running your power source to the amp? Grounds are a good place to start.

I am running a kicker 5 channel 700.5 4 Gauge power wire. I know I said I am A newbie but but that is only to this site I have been customizing trucks lowered, raised, stereo audio video systems for a good 25 years. I was hoping that someone knew something different about fords electical system that may cause this. For example the Honda has to have a diode run in line with the alternator to get the noise out. My installer is stumped that is why I posted on here. He has been installing for me about 20 Years. Not sure where the source is if I had to guess ignition for the radio and battey for the amp. Also Have a yellow top optima just added just a little insurance for possable shows. We did check grounds. Any help would be appreciated. as I said in my first post we tried two different noise supressors neither worked.

You don't say what application or year model you're working with. I have a 5 channel amp and a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 running through the OEM head unit and I didn't have any noise issues. You have a lot of components to trouble shoot. I would eliminate everything but the amp and see if the noise is still present. If not, start installing the other components until the noise comes back. Where is your amp located? Are the RCAs run with the power wire? If they are, try separating them.

Just because you checked your grounds doesnt mean they are grounded in a good spot. Where exactly are they grounded? it makes a WORLD of difference sometimes i these trucks

it is grounded on the floor behind the second seat underneath the passanger side close to the back wall 4 gauge wire on that as well. and thanks, that what I was searching for. Something weird that is isolated to this truck model. All the other suggestions I have changed or was already done at the time of installation, before I posted in here.

Im assuming this is on an 04-08, right? I think theres a couple guys that have had problems with grounding on the floor. It doesnt have a good return path to the battery. Quite a few have simply drilled a hole in the floor, used a grommet, ran the ground down and gone strait the the frame.

Thanks for posting this for me that is what are next step was going to be but we contimplted it because oy the 12 in groung rule. Ther is no other oplace to mount the amp unless we put it in the bed. So again thanks for the info. Maybe some of the other posters should read this thread. They might be a little more open minded and not give such snied remarks. just a thought. Newbi so automatically they think you don't know anything.

Haha its all good.

Just an FYI, in my experience, you can exceed the 12 inch ground rule if it means getting a good ground. I wouldnt go more then 18-20 if it all possible though.

I have a couple of posts here, neither of which are intended to be snied. I've reread the thread and don't see any snied remarks. You post a very generalized question with no information of what troubleshooting you've already performed, nor what application you're working on. This is not an attempt to be critical, but all the posts I read here seem to be an attempt to help and no reason for you to get derogatory.
