My factory am/fm-cassette-6 cd player died.
No clock or function. night illumination works.Cd player ejects magazine.Fuse is good.
It has me stumped.

Sounds like you fried something. What was going on before it happened?
However, if I were you, I'd consider this an Act of God, and a sign from On High and permission to purchase a good aftermarket unit. This sort of thing doesn't happen often, so take advantage of it. Try this:
"I don't know, honey. It just stopped working and no one knows why. I've got to replace it with this nice Alpine/Kenwood/Eclipse unit. Sorry!"
