a cap gives your amp the extra power it needs to meet musical demands. Ex. when the bass is really slamming. with only running the 1 amp no IHMO you don't need one. Most people don't. As long as your lights aren't dimming when you've got it slamming, you're good.

I knew Physics would come in use some day!

A capicitor is a tool/machine that stores Charge. Power from the battery goes to the cap and energy is stored, then continues on to the amp and is distributed. If the amp is running at tops (you're blairing your raido or you have a competition setup) It will want to draw a lot of power and sometimes the Bass hits empty the power reserves the amp already has, hence, the cap comes in.

In answer, unless you plan on adding a few HUGE subs, you prob don't need one

What I've done: K&N filter, Magna flow custom exaust (From where cat's join, 3"in, two 2.5" out the rear), Michelin LTX M/S 265/75/16's, MTX Thunderform custom box with two 6000 series 8" subwoofers and Mtx 120 amp.
Plans: Lund hood deflector, superchip, Poweraid, Xenon sport Flares, (custom ram-air idea?)
New: Pioneer DEH-P6300 Head unit (I definately reccomend it!)
