Post Hot CD

If you have a stereo that spits out a "HOT CD" (and says exactly that on the radio read-out when it happens), there is a topic over on the SuperCrew section of this site that might interest you. Here's the link: https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/001245.html

My truck does this on long drives and my dealer ordered a "kit" under warranty (a fan, I think) to address the problem. When I get my fix in a few weeks, I'll post what I learn.

------------------
Black 2000 SC short-box XLT. 4.2 V-6, 5-speed, 3.55 limited-slip. CD, remote entry, factory side steps, FORD box liner, rear fender inner splash shields (TSB 00-09-05).

My third F-series ordered new. The other two: '73 F-100 Custom, 240 cube 6, 3 on the tree, tan, "West Coast" mirrors, step bumper, knitted vinyl seat, AM radio; and '98 F-150 SC short-box XL, XLS package, Pacific Green, 4.2 5-speed, 3.55 LS, FM-cassette.

GREAT trucks!

Ford has a service advisory out on this. I took mine in and service manager wrote it up and ordered the replacement with the fan assembly already installed. He said I was number 5 on the list and the replacement should be here in about two weeks.

i hate to revive a thread from 2 yrs ago (according to the post date on the first post)...but i was wondering if anyone knows what that link used to lead to. i understand that a fan needs to be installed from the dealership, but i was curious as to the explanation that was there.

well, so much for that...my dealership has no clue about a svc advisory from '01....and my warranty doesn't cover it...so i guess i'll just have my JVC am/fm/cd changer controller & 12 disc changer installed.
