Exactly !!! It is a pain in the rear just to get to the firewall behind the battery...I believe most people have been taking their battery and battery box out.

IMHO works just fine on the drivers side.

I figure, It would be okay to run the speaker wire near the power wire, if need be. It is the RCA's that carry the signal.

I would prefer not to take the risk that my shielding is good enough... If you cannot seperate them one on each side of the car at least 18 inches of seperation is what I recommend.

Who cares how many channels the amp is?
Well, in my install world, 4 channels are for mids and highs, two channels and mono's are for subs. Unfortuneatly we just dont get the clientel that is into all the kick *** stuff that guys on this site do. That being said, dont subs play at frequency that they cannot pic up alt wine through the power wire/RCA? Not that it matters because I dont do it anyway, it only takes an extra 10 minutes (usually) to run them down opposite sides.

I usually go across the top near the cowel. MAKE SURE YOU PROPERLY WRAP YOUR POWER WIRE. Usee techflex or plastic loom or something...dont run the power wire with out protection unless its in the cab.

Damn, sorry to hear that. My uncle decided life wasn't worth living.

I'm just going to install a 4 channel amp for my door speakers. Then sometime over the summer I hope to be able to afford my sub box, 10s and amp for under my seat.

Have you bought your wiring yet? Id plan ahead now and get your distro block so that all you have to do in the summer is run power wire from your distro to your new amp.

Since your doing a 4 make sure the RCA's are seperate. Speakerwire doesnt really matter, you almost have to run some of it next to power. Are you running new wire to all the doors? If so, I hope you have a boot and not those Molex plugs.

I really try to do things the right way the first time. The key word in this statement it TRY ! I always seem to screw something up the first time to give myself a chance to learn from my mistakes. That my friends is what I call learning the hard way ! I try my best to assit other people so they do not have to make the same mistakes as me. Sundevil I am really old school when it comes to car audio. My first real job as a kid was installing cassettes and 8 tracks in cars. I have been doing this audio thing for over 20 years. I have been so out of touch with all the new stuff lately.....Am I going to be able to tell you what the latest and greatest subs and amps are for your truck.....NO. But fundamentals I have. I have my opinions and they are strong ones....most of the time I am right kidding !!

I am using the same power wire I have now, just going to un "rig" it cause my friend ran it crappy. I was thinking of getting a distro block to make it much easier.

RCA's separate from power only right? Speaker and or RCA doesn't matter

I'm not planning on running new wire, I have that stupid molex plug(at least I think)

Thanks man. I respect the old school. Aside from framing houses in the summer and working on a grounds crew at a minor league baseball park, this is my first real job too, and I love it!

Yeah, those molexs are a pain in the ***. IF you dont wanna run new speaker wire to the speaks, run the wire from your 4 channel to up where your head unit is and tap into the factory wire there, Just make sure you label all 4 sets of your wire, it'll save time in the future. The only wires you really need to keep seperate is Power and RCA's.

I really need to get back to work...I miss it.

I would try not to let any thing lay anything right next to the power wire. If you have to cross the power wire just do it at a 90 degree angle and you will be fine. Like I said I might be overkill. Alot of guys on here run the power underneath and mount to the frame. so.....who knows.

I crossed my engine compartment through my cowl under the hood. I wrapped it with wire mesh loom and ran it right over to the other side. The only visable part of the wire is from the grommet up to the entrance on the cowl. I used a fishtape to pull it across.

I planned on just running that speaker wire up to the headunit, disconnecting it from their and connecting it to the speakers there!
