Post Soundproofing question

I am starting to soundproof my truck. I am trying to do it as cheaply as possible. I ordered a ton of the high-temp mastic from mcmaster. I am spraying the inside of the doors with 3m spray on bed liner and I am using expanding foam to fill in all of the hollow panels.

My question is, when I apply the mastic (dynamat), what do I do with the thin plastic sheeting that sticks to the metal of the door? I am not sure if I am supposed to apply the mastic to the metal parts of the door only by cutting the shapes to fit, and then re-applying the plastic sheet. Or is the right way to cover the entire surface of the door and more or less replace the plastic sheet with the dynamat?

Thanks
Dustin

What you do is what you thought. The plastic is the moisture barrier. Use that as a template, take it off and be sure not to rip or tare it, lay it on the Dynamat and like I said use it as a template and cut out an exact replica, then apply the Dynamat to the metal of the door using a hair drier or heat gun and a rolling tool to work it into the grooves. If you need more help or more Dynamat I have some for sale in the classified ads for really really cheap
later
Hope this Helps

So I basically want to seal off the entire door, making sure that the dynamat bonds well to the metal? I just wanted to make sure that its ok to seal off the open parts.
