Post I need a full size deck!!

I am looking for a deck for my truck and have decided I want a full size deck. I want all the space used up and no new storage or plastic spaces. I spoke with the guy's at Circuit City and they said most of the big decks(alpine I was looking at) are actually bigger than my stock stereo and some shaving of the dash had to be done. Has anybody had this done or found a stereo that fits without modification? And how did it look?

I put two din size radios in my truck and you do have to shave it a little bit, but nothing that bad. I think it looks bad a$$.

A double-din deck will be easier to mount. But you will still have to do some major cutting and trimming. Mine was a mother to do, it took some patience and sweat to get it right.

I have seen some info about 1.5- and double-DIN head units posted on this board before, here's one thread to check out:

1.5 DIN Head Units from Alpine

here's another:

There are also some good photos posted here of an installation of a double-DIN head unit.

I've been thinking about something like this myself - I think it looks better than the little empty plastic spacer.
