Post I need advice on new speakers

I have a 97 Lariat SuperCab with the original stereo system (including 6-cd changer) & 4 speakers. Although I think it sounds pretty good "as is", I would like to replace the original speakers but use original mounting locations. Can anyone give me some advice on some new speakers, prices, and whether the Ford unit can provide enough power????
Thanks...

You have 5x7/6x8 speakers all around the truck. 5x7 will work but 6x8's are the better fit. Pioneer makes 6x8 that they will say is made for Ford systems, and they are pretty good fit as well as sound nice, I think they're around 100 a pair.

Depending if you want to make your own mounting plate you could fit 5 1/4's or 6 1/2's in there. Compontents would be nice but that the stock system won't power then enough to make it worth the amount for them.

premier 720, pioneer 6cd changer, 12 premier sub, premier componets, 2 soso amps

still to come: new spark plug wires, new rims and tires, maybe a supercharger eventually.

If you are going to spend $100, you might as well spend another $50.00 and get a good components set
HUGE difference between coax and components

Cool

Basically a component set uses separate woofers and tweeters while a coax has them all in one speaker.
The woofer and tweeter quality generally is much better with a components set.
Most importantly you have tweeter placement flexability with a components set.
For more info go to www.sounddomain.com forum page.
They have several threads on this.
