Post FM modulated cd changer

I have considered buying a FM modulated cd system to tie in with my the factory am/fm, cassette radio. Has anybody had experience with these? How stable are they on bumpy highways like the poor excuse for highways in Ohio. I have a 98 F150 XLT extended cab with pretty good factory speakers. I'd appreciate any input from fellow F150 owners. Thanks Billy 12 string

Thumbs down

I had a Sony FM modulated on my old Chevy. It works OK for someone who's on a budget. But you will not get a true digital sound like from real CD player. I think the average signal-to-noise ratio is about 80. Where the CD player is 90+.

Also you probably will get interference with other radio stations. I could hear jibbering from other channels when the volume was turned up. Besides for the price of one you could easily get a decent CD player and the install kit.

I have a Sony CD playing through the FM in my truck, and my wife has a hardwired Sony CD in her car, and hers does have much better high frequency sound. Mine was a gift, but if I were buying it myself I would go hardwire instead of radio frequency.

Thanks for your input guys. I'll save a little more and get a hardwired cd player/cassette. I travel alot and get tired of dj's radio playlists, so having a cd/cassette player voids their bought and paid for lack of deciding music on their own. I know, I'm a musician.
Dirt bike Dave, I ride a 95 YZ250 and try to race now and then at Honda Hills in east central ohio. What do you ride? Thanks again you all!

hey Billy, welcome to the board!

I ride in the woods, with a fairly heavily modified & street legal KDX250. I mainly ride at Stonyford, which is in the Mendocino National Forest, but we've got lots of other great trails here in Northern California.

I go by the same name on www.dirtrider.net which is the best off road board.
