Ford 6-disc in dash changer
Has anybody seen the new 6-disc in dash changer Ford is putting in the new Sportrac. I'm wondering if it'll fit an F150 application (and yes I've seen the aftermarket one).
I have installed these, and it won't fit right in an f-150. There is a bracket (plastic) that runs front to back atop where the radio installs. You have to cut this out. It will fit, and will work. After you take out the factory radio and try to install the CD-6 you'll see the bracket. Good luck, and have fun.

About that 6-disc in-dash CD changer on the Sport Trac...and the Visteon CD-6
I have heard that the Visteon model has RCA outputs so that you can hook up an external (aftermarket) amp. Is this true?
If so, does the model that comes with the Sport Trac come with this feature?
I ask because I am about to order a new SuperCrew and my cousin is ordering a Sport Trac at the same time. If the model that comes with the Sport Trac has this feature I'll have him order it with his truck and take it when he installs his aftermarket MD system.
Also, does anyone know if the CD6 will control an external Ford CD changer? It would be cool to be able to have access to 12 discs!

The Visteon CD-6 unit I have doesnt have RCA outputs and I highly doubt that the factory unit does either....

Hey, ND-BMW, hope you see this message. You mentioned you had to use a Dremel tool to fix your Trenz antenna adapter. Any chance you could do that for me? My e-mail address is matulavich@aol.com.

The Visteon CD6 (I work for Visteon in case some of you don't know me, I'm an audio engineer) does not have RCA jacks. If you have a 99/2000 F-series, Expedition, or Navvigator the radio will fit with some minor cutting inside the radio opening. The CD6 will work a factory CD changer (Pressing the CD button on the radio switches between the in dash player and the external cd changer) and the rear seat controller in the SUVs.
The in dash player is nice because it gives you direct disc access (press button 3 to go right to disc 3) and it will shuffle play across all cds loaded into the radio. The external cd changer will not shuffle across cds or let you access discs by pressing a number on the radio.

Hey, Tim A. I got a question for ya. Now, from what we believe to be true, the older Ford changers were really Clarions. Now what are the newer smaller ones they're putting in the 2000's. And why does the cd-6 in the Explorer's say Pioneer on it? My boss keeps telling me that these are exclusively made by Visteon for Ford (one and the same). Then, the Visteon entertainment center in the Windbags have Koss headphones???? I just want to know, what gives here....Is Ford making their own stuff, or is somebody else... Hope you see this, and thanks.

The smaller CD changer in the 99/2000 F-series is also a Clarion unit with the Ford/Visteon communication in it. Clarion sells the same CD changer through aftermarket shops that work with their head units.
Regarding the "Pioneer" CD6 in the Explorer, that is a brand strategy. Their name, our radio. As for the Koss headphones, it is a common practice to buy a product and put your name on it. It happens more than you think. Speakers are an example, there are only a few companies that actually make speakers. Pioneer makes speakers for many of the other audio companies out there. Visteon does design and produce almost all Ford radios. We purchase the products that we don't want to design and produce (like CD changers).
