Question Buying Online

Where's the best place to buy car audio online?

I'm thinking of upgrading to a MTX thunderform.

In my humble opinion, Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) is the best place to buy car and home audio stuff online. They carry most name brand speakers, including Kenwood, Sony, Pioneer, MTX, Rockford Fosgate, and Infinity. And yes, they have Thunderforms.

Cool

Crutchfield? NOOOOOOOOO! They are a good reference source but you will pay more. Try Sound Domain( also have a message board, very good site), MMXpress, TMSElectronics, Carmedia1( I can update on this one soon, just bought a set of 10" IDQ's from them), and Car Audio Works just to name a few. Best bet is go to Sound Domain( www.sounddomain.com )and get some info from the message board.

Personally i would stay away from crotchfelt, their prices r damn high. www.mmxpress.com is good, www.tms-electronics.com is good too....
www.digitalwavez.com has good prices but i dunno about their service.

Food for thought, i have heard most stereo products bought on the net dont have warranties. I am not sure if its true, but definatly ask. Amps go bad alot.

#caraudio in efnet is pretty helpful for these things, if u get past the trash talk.

hey don't shut crutchfield out completely, they have some good deals ..you just have to watch for them..i bought a mtx blue thunder 75x4 amp from them this week.list for 680 paided 329.00, i dare somebody to find a better price than that..but their everyday prices are kind of high..and believe me i am a surfer. carmedia1.com,soundhabit.com,smilevideo.com,
outlawaudio.net,digitalwavez.com,usacaraudio.com,t mselectronics.com,soundsolutions.com etc....not to mention ebay.com has some exceptional deals on used stuff, especially if you are kind of experimenting..i must say i felt more comfortable ordering from crutch though...

Cool

I agree with Spydog. I got a great deal on some Infinity Kappa 57.1cs's at Crutchfield. You have to do a lot of comparison shopping...

I recently ordered $1K worth of stuff from SoundHabit...was I worried, yep, no phone number to follow up with. But if you use a credit card you are safe.

For the record: SoundHabit did exactly what they said they would, delivered on time, new equipment, with warranty cards, for the prices shown on their web page. I saved $425 on the Infinity SubWoofers and the 50.1 CS speakers alone. I can't compare the PPI PC 6600.2 Amp since Crutch doesn't sell this brand. I know I saved over $375 from local Tucson prices. $800 is material savings to me...

I did ask for SoundHabit to call me if ANY part of my order was not going to ship immediately, I received a call within the hour (I ordered during a long torturous conference call I was on...during regular business hours) Jason, from SoundHabit, was courteous, knowledgable, and did everything he said he would. I also asked for the UPS tracking numbers, via e-mail, and received back information that included expected arrival date but no UPS tracking numbers per SoundHabit policy...since SoundHabit did everything they said they would this was not an issue.

Now all I gotta do is figure out what kind of headunit to get and how to fit everything in the truck without chopping it up!
