Dusty, I misread your original post. I would be happy to switch head unit's, but I do not want to give up my changer. If you are still interested, so am I. You can take your truck to any dealer, they should remove the head unit for you. They may ask for proof of ownership, but I have never had a problem.

Hi Jeff!!

That's no problem at all. I can always get the changer, and didn't figure anyone was going to give it up! <VBG> Have you figured out if the single CD will work with the changer?

The other thing I'm waiting on is Doc to post pix of his system to see if the aftermarket might be the way to go after all. I've been resistant to the idea due to looks and ease of use of the stock unit over aftermart.

Either way, you can have the stock unit when it goes, whether we swap or I just ship. Sound good?

I will stop by my dealer Monday and see what they know. Maybe they will pull out a single CD unit from a truck on thir lot to see if it has the connection for the changer. If it does I will gladly swap, or if you go aftermarket and just want to get rid of it I will at least pay for shipping if you want.

ALA G8R, I noticed you have the Pioneer DEH-P7000R CD Player. I just installed the Pioneer DEH P4000 in my 99 F150. A couple of questions - did you wire the DFS alarm, and if so to which - wire - where?

Hi Jeff

No problemo. When you find out, let me know. In the meantime, I'm gonna stop by the shop and see what Stan has for me to look at. I told him about Doc's eq setup and he said that was no problem (except the bucks, of course) to do.

But you got first dibs on the single CD unit if it'll work!

Well it was a good idea, but my dealer said it will not work. There is no button on the single in dash CD unit to select a CD changer. It has a CD button, for the CD, and AM/FM buttons for the tuner. Nothing for the changer. You may want to check with a dealer about a cassett deck, one of the salesmen had two factory head units in his desk drawer. Both were base models without changer controls, but that was only one salesman. Worth a shot maybe.

ALA G8R, I know it has to be tied into the lead for the dome light. I just need to know which wire it is.

Darin,
I didn't mess with the DFS alarm. I'll check into how to hook it up and see if I can answer your question.

The dealer is wrong. The Ford CD radio works with the Ford changer. Pressing the CD button once goes to the disc player, pressing it again works with the CD changer. Let me know if you need details about wiring the changer into the radio.

Dusty, if you are still following this thread, on Tim A's info, I will still buy your CD or trade for my Cassett unit if you are still interested.

Tim A, can I assume since I have the changer on my cassett deck the wiring will simply unplug from mine and plug into the CD unit? Thanks for the info.

Hi Jeff, yup, still here. I'm willing to do it if indeed you can verify it'll work. My Ford dealer was no help at all-the one guy was convinced the F150 never came with a 6 disc changer! So that was a dead end. The stereo shop guy said he thought it would work, but since he got his F150 radio delete, he didn't have anything to go on that was solid.

So when I do finally get the sucker out, I'll let you know if you should ship yours to me or not, and get an address so I can ship mine to you. Sound good?

JA_Stang86, do you have the 1999 radio with casssette and a factory installed CD changer? If so, the 1999 radio with cd player will perfectly fit and connect to your wiring. They are the same radio, with different mechanisms for tape or CD. The connections and everything else worth the same.

Hi Tim!

Thanks for the info! Jeff, sounds like it'll work for you. If you're not in a hurry, I think it may be a month or so until I can get things done enough to take it out.

Dusty, I am in no hurry, You are replacing your stereo and have to shop for what you want. You are doing me a favor be selling me you in dash CD, something I wanted but the factory doesn't offer it with the changer. When you decide let me know if you want my head unit or not.

Tim A, yes I have the factory premium cassett with factory changer. Thank you for all of your knowledge, it is greatly appreciated.
