CD won't work

The 2001 F150 I just bought still has the factory radio CD player in it. I finally just went to try out the CD player and the CD goes in, sits there for a couple of seconds and then comes back out.

Does anyone know if there is a quick fix for it, what might be wrong with it or should I be looking for a new CD player?

I have never used one of them. Do you know where I can pick one up? And do you maybe know what they cost?

Thanks.

Most electronics stores will have them, best buy, circuit city, radio shack, etc..

If I remember correctly they are less than $20.

Also, have you tried different discs? I've had discs that could not be read be ejected by my player several times.

Yes I did try some different discs. The first one I put in was a CD burnt from my computer and it did not work. So I thought that it could not read it. Then I grabbed a couple of store bough Cd's and they did not work either.

Thank you for the info.

I went and bought a CD lens cleaner and tried it and it did not work. The cleaner came out the same way I put it in. So I guess it is time to look for a new stereo.

That sucks, it's just that time for a new stereo, it isn't too bad to change the radio yourself on your year truck

!!!!
When I got my 2001 it had the same problem, the seller told me that it would work every now and then, but after awhile it would stop working after playing for a hour or so. Does yours make a clicking noise as well when its in there trying to read? Also, does it pop in and out and click repeatedly when you put it in or try to eject the disc?
I solved this problem simply by a new alpine h/u =]
