RDS on 2006 F-150 Audiophile

We just purchased a F-150 Supercab with an Audiophile System with 6-Disc changer. The sales person has repeatedly told us it is RDS (Radio Data System)capable and they have even changed radios 3 times but this feature does not work. Now they are saying the truck is not wired for RDS and that the feature will not work on any radio. I thought it was the radio that determined the feature. Who is right?

It is a radio feature. RDS does not have anything to do with the truck itself. First of all, the station you are listening to has to be broadcasting the RDS information. Not all stations broadcast the RDS information. Secondly, the feature has to be turned on in the radio setup menu.

Thanks for your response. I have been trying to tell the dealership that they are not getting the right radio even though the salesman swore that the radio had RDS as requested. The 2nd & 3rd radios they installed did not have RDS options on the menu as according to the owners manual. They continue to say the truck itself is not wired for RDS and they have been difficult to deal with.

Ya, 4dman, your dealer is hosed. It is a feature of the radio not of the truck. You turn it on in the menu selection and if the station embeds the codes in their signal, you get the data on the radio. The instructions are in the owners manual for the audiophile system.
