That depends on what you are going to use them for. For short distance communication(1-4miles) they work great. I use mine every day, all day long. Anything over 4-5 miles and they become unreliable because of DX.

There have been several CB threads in the past few months and most conclude that it is worth it. There is a certain protocol that you need to adhere to (much like these boards! ) or you will be ignored. Mostly, be respectful & corteous and you'll be fine.

Most have said that the CB is a far better investment even than a radar detector. Try searching for "uniden" or "cobra" or some other popular model and you should find more info.

Oh lord don't get me started on that. Truckers will argue about anything. Ever heard a trucker get into a fight with somebody about how many dead armadillo there are on the side of the highway? Of course, I'm part of that club too. Last trip I was on, there was a semi in the fast lane, doing 65 in a 70, with his LEFT turn signal on.
Me: Blue truck, your LEFT turn signal is on, AND you're in the fast lane. Doing 65. Get out.
He gets over, I pass
Blue Truck: Gee driver, I would have thought that you were in a fast car, but you're in a pickup truck truck truck truck.
Me: I am? OH MY GOD!. Holy chit! There's a boat following me too! (I was towing my boat)
Blue Truck: Blah blah blah, basically said I should be in a fast car.
Me: I sure do love fishing.
