additional speaker
additional speaker
I'm going to cut an aftermarket speaker into my center console on my 06 F-250. Is there a jack for additional speakers on the back side of the stereo unit or do I have to tap the existing Speaker wires? I'm not sure on the wiring thing, any help!

Because
at the end of the week I have accumulated 100 receipts in the clip and it drives me nuts. Anyway, the speaker will look cool and no one else would do it. It will only be cool if the thing works though. Call me crazy!

I'll post a pic, maybe I'll start a trend.

I would guess the lack of responses is indicative of the fact that nobody understand why you want to ruin the stereo effect of sound stage, or that center channels are very 1980's technology...and that's not a good thing.
Ok,
so all the guys sticking giant speakers behind or under their back seats are not ruining their stereo effect. You know, the ones who pull up behind you at a red light and everthing inside your vehicle is vibrating! I'm not sure how I would be ruining my stereo sound but I like the look and if you read any of the truck mags, you'll see that many of the show trucks featured have this setup.

The safest way, to hook it up is to add an external amplifier, this way there will be no additional load (reduced impedance) on the deck. Problem here it'll cost way more than the speakers did.
There really is no GOOD way to hook it up, you could replace your door speakers with 8ohm speakers, and then bridge those with the console speakers you added(8 ohm too... if not ... well things are getting hard aren't they).
You could wire them in 'series' without increasing the stress on the deck, but that means running a lot of extra wiring. Humm, too much work there...
Ok, There is no EASY or INEXPENSIVE and RELIABLE way to do it... sorry...

Yeah,
I was considering adding the amp and I do want to upgrade the speakers at some point. Thanks for the input. I'm not too worried about the cost and the speakers definately were not cheap.

Notrepidation's advise will work... But please be aware that this will cause your deck's amplifier to heat up quickly, it greatly decreases it's life, and very likely clip at a volume you were previously used to hearing clearly.
You certainly have caught my curiosity, what kind of speaker did you add to your console, and which direction is it firing? You say it looks pretty impressive, I can't imagine your setup - yet...

It's a 6" Sony Xplode and one is cut into the top rear of the console and I'm going to cut the second one in on the back side facing the back seat. I need to come up with some kind of pod for that one though as the diameter is slightly too big to fit flush. I have a few pics and if I can get my wife to load them on the computer I will post them up.
