Need CB help...

I have a Uniden PC68 LTW that worked great in my Ranger. I took it out when I sold that truck and just got around to installing it in my F-150. Now it seems that I can't recieve, and when I transmit, the needle pegs all the way right. I never had a problem picking up truckers (I live about 3 mile from the interstate) before, so now I'm wondering what's wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I have a 5 ft Firestick for an antenna. If you've seen the pics, the other one isn't hooked up, just there for looks.

Well, since it's a new truck, it's basically a new install, which means the antenna needs to be retuned. VSWR can be a tricky beast. I'd pick up a cheap vswr meter and tune the antenna. ( or worst case, take it to a local shop and have them check your power out and vswr.) This shouldn't cost you over $10. Plus it'll give you peace of mind knowing it's good to go. Hope this helps. -Chris

I knew I should probably get the SWR's tuned, but I figured since I did not change anything, not the antenna or power cables, it wouldn't change. Guess I'll have that checked out. Thanks for the input, bro.

The other thing you might want to check (that is after you do your SWR ) is the antenna ground and the lead in from the antenna. Bad ground can throw SWR way off. Corrosion can cause problems; breaks in the insulation can let in moisture and short you 'stick out...and other bad things.
