I thought two things:

1) Where's he put the handle, I doubt he keeps it on the dash....

2) I wonder what kind of sound that antenna makes when going in and out of the garage.

Looks like a clean install....

It's still amazing to me that any of you guys can get your rigs in the garage. I have about 4 inches of play front to back and have to fold the mirrors to make it. Needless to say, mine's an outdoor truck.

Yeah, haven't decided if/ where to mount the mic clip. I'd really hate to drill thru any plastic. So far, I can return it to looking completely stock, minus the holes drilled for the antenna mount (under the hood). Any recommendations are welcome.

Oh, and I plan on getting a firestick quick disconnect so I can take the antenna off in a hurry.

I know what you mean about the antenna. I've always mounted them on the bed or bumper. I'm getting a camper shell, so I decided to go up front. There's no interference at all between the two. I've got a pretty hefty ground off the chasis of the radio, and I really took my time on the 259 connector....

Man you could convince normal people (non F-150online) that the cb came stock. Thats slick. I'm going to put mine in that same spot soon as i get off my ****. I've been debating over putting it under the radio or in the useless sunk in pocket thingy (i think it WOULD have been an ashtry) down by the shifter but you have just shown me the light. I'm a little confused as to which mount I need, I've found several fender/hood gap mounts and not sure which style I need. Also, my dads company truck has a skinny metal antenna for the cb which I would prefer. It was on the truck when he picked it up, has no ideal where it came from and i havn't been able to find one online. Anybody know where i could get one? Thanks.

Yep, here ya go:
http://www.buyreliant.com/cbantenna/whips.htm

I got the Impulse IMP3000 (5th one down). I bought mine from a local CB shop on their recommendation. (I can't vouch for the store I linked). It's a lot less obtrusive than the big fiberglass one, and is actually easier to tune. I'll post pics soon.

As far as the mount, I used the firestick hood channel mount. I found a better one though. This one is actually designed for the F150. Notice in the pic there is a bend on the lower part of the mount that the firestick model doesn't have. This allows it to line-up with the contours of the F150. (Of course I stumbled across it after I installed mine):

*There are also some astatic steel antennas on this site. The "half-breed" models look pretty cool.

Definitely get the disconnect. I am forever using it in parking garages when I take my beast to the airport. As for the mic hanger, skip the old clip that you screw on. Firestik makes a steel one that works great to hang off of the visor (at least it worked on my 99). On the new one I think I will just slip it in the edge of the overhead console. Basically you can hang it on just about anything w/out drilling holes.

I think you get it free when you order certain things also.

I'm still working on finding a place to mount mine. It is not as small as yours is. I have a slightly modified Uniden Grant. It is a full size radio. Hopefully will get it mounted this weekend.

Be sure to retune the antenna once you get the disconnect because it will change it. You also picked a good spot to mount it. Mounting anywhere behind the cab was problematic for me once I put on the gooseneck horse trailer. The SWRs slammed far too high because of how close it was.

Good luck, and the handle here is the handle on the radio.

Thanks TX. Now that's what I call a truck. Man, that thing's gorgeous. Don't do too much to the outside. It looks "all business" like it should.

Thanks. There are only a couple of things I want to add to it. I am considering breaking out my woodshop tools and building an overhead console that will fit my CB. It would have to be black walnut, I think, to match the dark wood trim of KR interior. I've already added a color matched spray in bed liner and the gooseneck hitch. I want to put some front splash guards on it though. When it is wet out I get a rather large collection of dirt/sand on the front of the running boards and on the lower quarter panel.

Have fun with the CB and I'll catch 'ya on the flip side.

How good is that brand of CB? My buddy just bought one and I've never heard of it. For some guys CB radio's are life, I'm hoping thats one of you guys. My buddy bought one from walmart for $34.99 and is wondering if it's decent. Believe my friend got the Midland 1001Z. We do a lot of trail riding and I'd hate for it to go out on us when I need to contact him. How good is the reception with midland and if he went a little cheap on his antennae, would my antennae make up for it if it were one of quality?
