wow! Thats' a REALLY nice install. Is the radio a side band radio? Also, do you know the dimensions of that radio? Like I said earlier though that's really impressive. I looked at the other pics, and doesn the "Jenny Keeper" install to the bed, or is it made to work on the mat? Pretty dog too....I guess I need to put some pics on my profile. I was worried at first until I realized the Jenny was a dog, and not the wife!

Thanks! I was hoping someone out there would appreciate the effort.
The CB is a Midland 77120ESP2. I chose this one specifically for the front firing speaker (So I wouldn't have to mount an external one) and for it's dimensions: Height - 2", Width 6 5/8", Length - 6 1/2". It's close to the size of a single-din stereo, so it fit pretty good after a little trimming. The cd player is a sony CDX GT10W. It's a bargain unit ($99 at wally-world) but it has a front aux-in connector, so I can plug my Ipod right in.

( I bought all the cb stuff from them, great service)

(A great source of well written info. Make sure to check out their "tech help" link.)

-The jenny keeper is bolted to the bed with a hole in the mat so the swivel can turn. This gives her (Jenny) freedom of movement, without getting in trouble. She (jenny) loves it. The wife doesn't care for it, says it's not her color...

Good luck with your install. Feel free to hit me up with any other questions.- Chris

First off, make sure your kit is designed for a multi, or dual single-din install. I found a gazillion ones (and even ordered one) that had a pocket in the bottom. It looked like the CB might fit from the picture, but it wasn't even close. Once you find a true double-din kit, the install is pretty simple. -

I bought some bolts the same size and cut as the thumb-screws that came with the cb mount. (To figure out what you need, find a nut that threads on to the thumbscrews, then buy the same sized bolts) I ligned the cb up in the dash kit and inserted the bolts thru the kit, and into the original cb holes. I also added 3 flat washers on each side to make up the difference in space between the cb and the kit. There is zero play with the two bolts and front of the dash kit holding it in place. Using the large side bolts also made a convenient place to run a ground wire. ( Since the bolts go thru the covers and into the chasis.)

If you do decide to use the dash kit like I did, you will need to trim some plastic to make the cb fit. Take your time!!!! I used an exacto blade, followed by 100 grit sandpaper to smooth it out. Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

-Chris

Actually, that's the pocket type kit. (That I had no luck with) Check my previous post with the link to the dash kits. You can see the difference in yours and the one I used. Hope this helps.- Chris

In-dash cb install

Hey guys, I found a cb actually made for in-dash installation (a week late, of course). It's a Maxon MCB-100. I'll try and hunt down a pic of one. -Chris

well...this thread kinda' went stale after a little while. It's been almost a month since we've had a reply. I guess that's mostly my fault since I started it! Oh well, everybody, keep those pics coming. I love seeing other peoples set up's. It really helps me figure out what I would like to do with mine.
