Question about Keyless Entry
I bought a new Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x2 less than a month ago and so far I have been very happy with it. Last night however, it was broken into by someone who clearly doesn't value his own life very much. They punched out the lock on the drivers side and easily entered the truck. They took what they wanted and left. My question is, isnt the flashing red light on the dash some type of anti-theft system? Shouldn't the horn have sounded or something? I know the primary feature of the trucks from a security standpoint is that you need a programmed key to start it but I was under the impression that the vehicle would alert anyone within earshot if it was entered forcibly. The truck was parked right outside my bedroom window so had the horn sounded, I would have heard it. Can anyone shed any light on this?
I appreciate any advice.

No, I didnt read the manual but thanks for telling me how to locate it. I guess the flashing red light on the dash is just there to help illuminate the inside of the truck so the thief can better see if there is anything inside he wants to steal.
No, that's not what the red light is for.
Instead of me typing out the very long paragraph about the significance of the red light, I suggested you read about it in the owners manual.
In response, I get a smart-aleck retort.
Thanks.

Who is the smart aleck? The guy that tells me how to find the manual in the glove box? Look, I have no problem with you because you are right, I could (should) have looked it up in the manual. I was frustrated because my truck got broken into and it seemed to be very easy for the thief to do this. I put a post out here to initiate a conversation with other truck owners about their feelings on the security of their vehicle and the only response I get is you acting smug. Now you get bent out of shape because I dont thank you for it? Wow...
