Will it work???????

Alright heres the plan, I have two 6x9s that i am going to put into an icechest. I am thinking if i get a little amp say hmm 40watts or something and hook an MP3 player up to the amp instead of a regular Headunit it will be better. Well basically to some it all up is it possible to hook up a Mp3 player straight to the amp?

This is going to be for floating down the river just if your wondering!

Well. Ive seen little thingys that have a jack like a pair of headphones, and turn it into RCA jacks. That should take care of getting the music from the MP3 player to the amp. Just plug it into the player, then run RCA's from it to the amp.

What are you going to do about power though? Just stick like a riding lawnmower battery in there or something?

Yea either that or a damn car battery so it will last. I have a little portable charger so i can charge the battery up at night at the cabin but do you think just a lawnmower battery would get the job done for hmm lets say about 6-8 hours

Hmm, I would think that would be pushin' it, maybe not though.

If you wanted it to for sure work that long, and not loose much charge, those red, blue and yellow top batterys will go for a long time. Probably cost more than what you want to spend on this project though.

You can always take back those batterys if it doesnt last long enough.

Well i got the adaptor and hooked the mp3 player up to my stereo in my room, it sounds fine. I tried hooking it to amp and a POS speaker just to check if the amp worked and just my luck it didnt so there goes some more money i have to spend on a damn amp for an icechest. O well it will be most coolest one out there.

That always sucks. Id look for the smallest one that will work to so it wont drain your batt so fast too. You probably thought of that though.

Ebay man.

Check out a store called High Desert Audio too. They have stuff you can get for like 5 bucks.
