Cool little MP3 PLayer at Wally-World

Found this little item at (of all places!) Wal-Mart.
Little FM modulator that plugs into lighter socket. Tune device to one of seven FM channels, then tune head unit to same FM channel. Plug in flash drive loaded up with MP3s and rock out!

$30.

Sigh!

I hate explaining the obvious, but here goes:

iPod = $400
Wally-World device + 512 MB flash drive = $85
I would never use an iPod anyplace but in my trucks, so iPod is vast overkill.

The head unit in the Lightning won't play MP3s burned on a CD.
MP3s take a longer time to burn on a CD than on a flash drive.

Small and portable.

There ya go.

Hey, that's pretty cool, I'm not real familiar with the Flash cards. Do they make one for the SD card, or is that the same thing? I have an MP3 with 128mb internal memory with a 1gb SD card, and have been thinking about getting an FM modulator so I could listen to it in the GF's car, but if I could get one of those that might work better...

(edit)
Oops, I misread that... it only has a USB port... still pretty cool.

That is pretty sweet.. Definitely let us know how the sound quality is. I have heard those FM modulators can kind of suck depending on the device, but for $30, I guess you can't really complain either way.

I loaded it up with MP3s today and played it riding home from work: sound is awesome!

FYI: it also has a 3' cable and a jack so if you already have an MP3 player, you can plug it right into the jack.

Found a 1 GB flash drive on sale at Best Buy = $79.99.

Really works ****!
