ipod/audiophile/alpine?

I've searched and read threads, but I can not find a straight answer anywhere., so I'm going to try the direct approach, lol

Heres my situation. I'm going on a trip next month and am wanting to do the ipod through the stereo deal. I have an 04 F150 with the 6 disk in dash and the Audiophile system. I think the FM modulation/transmitter deals will leave me unhappy, so I'm not going that route. That leaves, to the best of my knowledge, replacing the head unit with one of the Alpine head units. The question I have is will the alpine head units hook up directly to my audiophile speakers/sub/amp/wires/etc? I have no interest in changing out speakers/subs or any of that. I am happy with what I have and wouldn't even be considering changing the head unit if not for wanting to play the ipod. With no AUX input on the market and no reliable release date, I don't see another option.

BTW, I'm not set on the Alpine, its just the one that seems to be most compatible with the ipod. I think I would rather use the ipod's controlls than the head unit's, so if there is a head unit that would be better for what i'm trying to do and more compatible with my system, by all means suggest it.

So, any answers out there or am I just trying to do something that cannot be done?
