(note: single CD with audiophile is not a vaild combination. if you have audiophile, you have the 6-CD headunit).

 

I have the single CD head unit. It has the AUX. button and when depressed it displays "no aux input" on the head unit display.

 

I too have a company supplied 2004 F150 with a single CD head. It has the AUX button. I am new here, but I was hoping to be able to find that I coould hook up a Sat radio or Ipod to the AUX input and enjoy some good tunes. Can someone confirm that something so simple is really not possible without a "special" cable that may not even be on tha market yet. I find that hard to believe, but I quess it may be that case. I also have a 2004 F-150 with 6-CD changer in dash that is not "audiophile" and has the AUX button.

Anyone have any further info on this? I'd really like to be able to connect a few different external sources - surely someone is using this somehwhere in the country for something?

It says "no aux input detected" or similar when I try it.

 

Maybe there's some hope for the aux input. Has any one seen what Ford is calling the "Hands free cell phone prep harness" Part Number: 4L2Z-19A393-AA? It connects to the factory radio to allow for auxillary audio input from a cell phone, but should be able to take input from any device. Let me know if you anyone has tried this. well i had to do it... i ordered the hands free kit...they do ask you what type connector you want,and the first name escapes me but the second one was called molex... so i recognized that connector type from computers so i ordered it. got here today. took 10 days and i give that dealer a lot of $$. no diagram so kinda winging it. i will try and post a pic tomorrow of the harness. it has 2 male and 2 female plugs on it and 5 wires that break out with no connector. so if anyone has any insight on this lemme know as im waiting for an answer from ford as to how to hook up. I have all the factory wiring diagrams for ths truck and still have no clue how they want this hooked up:Q

It does not list F-150, but does list Expedition and Navigator, so I would think that it would work.

 

Your link leads to a page that says "MUST have the "CD/AUX" on radio." How many of you 04/05 F-150 owners have this button?

The main page to the Ford products for this site says "SPECIAL 2004-2005 F150 APPLICATION NOTE: Currently there is no auxiliary input converter available for the 2004-2005 F-150."

I am sure it won't work...

"However, yes we (PIE) are aware of the headunit in the 2005 Mustang. This headunit was first introduced in 2004 with the redesign of the F150. We have the equipment and are currently working on "Reverse-Engineering" the "AUX" function on those radios."

PIE has not released an Aux adapter as of yet...

 

Sorry about that. I did not realize that an Expedition or Navigator would have a different radio than an F-150.

I even looked at my wife's 2005 Freestyle with the 6-disk mp3 unit and it's button only says "AUX" and not "CD/AUX", so that adapter would not work in it either.

 

Hey - that's actually encouraging - Metra just said they are not working on it and have no estimated date when it will be avaiable.....so at least PIE is working on it!! I tell ya - whichever harness maker comes out with it 1st - I'm going to help them sell a million of those "Aux" button harness...between the F-150's, Mustangs and other Ford products - there's got to be a real healthy amount of pent up demand!!

Sorry guys... real life stepped in for a while there and my pos digital camera is down. So here goes... the harness has 2 male and 2 female connectors for the radio and radio harness and 5 bare wires. The diagram from Ford is as follows. wire#1 ground ,
wire #2 mute, Wire #3 key on power, Wire #4 audio +, and Wire #5 audio - .

Any body have any ideas lets have em...

 

Hi guys. I know this is an old thread and an old question, But I recently purchased a 2004 Lariat F-150 with the six CD changer and nee to access the AUX input of the stereo. I have read all of the posts on the FRD04.AUX pie. I am having trouble finding one of these parts except for horribly expensive ones on Ebay. Is this still the quik-fix for this problem or is there a different interface available ? Thanks.
