Stock radio

I'm hoping someone can help with this or has had the same problem and come up with a solution. I have the stock radio in my Expy. It has the tape deck and controls the 6 disc changer. The problem I am having is the display goes out. It will work for a few mintues and then it will go out. Any ideas? Thanks

could be a cold solder problem where the diplay pins are mounted in the p.c. board. Does whacking the dash make it cut in or out? Take it out of the dash and tap it hard (the radio chassis that is) to see if that does anything. It could also be a capacitor or resistor giving you the problem by cutting out as it heats up. A techie will check this by spraying the board with supercold spray.

yes, when it gets warm it goes out. It is usually out in the morning when it iis cold and one good hit makes it come on. Is this an easy fix?

fairly staightforward if it is a cold solder problem. You need a techie to do it though, or, at least someone who knows their way around a p.c. board with a soldering iron. Probably cost you an hours labor at an electronic repair shop.
good luck

Thanks for the info. I tried turning the bass and treble down and that seemed to help some as well. Thanks again
