Building box
Building box
Hey guys, Im gonna biuld my own box, and I think I've got the procces down, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for me.
Also, I need to know what size(thickness) of plywood to use.
Im just making a 1x10 to stick under my rear seat on the pass. side. If anyone has some plans they used or some they had drawn up I wouldnt mind seeing them if possible to.
(my rear seat flips forward with the cushion laying on the floor.
but any info on building my own box would be appreiciated.
Thanx

I made a diagram of my measurements under the seat (note: may not be entirely accurate...you should measure under yours since it might be different).
You should use 5/8 or 3/4" MDF. 3/4" is preferred though.
Tips on building:
Make straight cuts.
Subs firing DOWN into the floor sound better... Sort of like this
If possible, you should try to raise your seat. As it is there is not much room at all.
You won't be able to fold your seats down after you finish.
This is probably the best audio site I have seen:

It's got tips on building boxes as well. Give it a look.

Use like 3/4 mdf for the ten and seal it up with liquid nail or some type of silicone. I like to use a sander because half the stuff I cut don't come out straight. Also be sure to get some long drywall screws and predrill your holes before putting the screws in. The wood will split if you don't.
