Hey neck I would check into the possibility of the campus having to pay for the vandalism and theft. I know that with alot of private property areas like a campus, work locations, military bases and other places like them that employ security to rove parking areas they are in most cases liable for damages. I was burglarized while in the military (parked on base) and they paid 100% of all damage and replacement costs. Also, here at work people have had the same happen to them and corporate picked up the tab. Just something worth checking into anyway.

Anyway, that does really SUCK!

Thumbs up thanks for the info

I hope someone will cover it, cuz my car insurance is trying to put it off, they said they probably are not going to cover it.

I've had my vehicles broken into 3 times. Twice I had stereo equipment stolen and most recently had my AIR BAGS stolen.

What insurance company do you have?
I use State Farm and they never give me any trouble... I take pictures of the damage and provide them with reciepts/prices on the equipment I had. I usually get my claim check within a week or so.

If you have your vehicle fitted with aftermarket stuff... its definitely worth paying a little more for the no-hassle insurance company coverage.

The air bag incident cost $2000 to get repaired... $600 per airbag plus labor and repairing my door handle (how they popped the lock and broke in).

I heard some rumors one time our trucks are easy to break into. Anyway why would someone want your airbags tek2000. That is almost as bad as having your tailgate stolen. I have never had anything stolen (knock on wood)..

Did you see the price of the airbags... $600 A PIECE!!!!!

Every F-150 in my apartment complex got hit that night. The guy(s) that stole mine knew EXACTLY what they were doing. They probably either work for a body shop/collision shop or sell the airbags to shady body shops. The shady body shop will charge you the factory price and probably spend a good deal less than that buying them from the guy on the street... and you'd never know they weren't brand new.

Air Bags actually are pretty common stolen items from what I understand. I hear a small Ford dealership had half of their stock of F-150's air bag's stolen one weekend.

Hey neck I also forgot an important factor in the insurance companies paying for aftermarket equipment. I remember now that if you plan on filing a claim for stolen aftermarket items against your insurance company it is best to get riders for the equipment up front so they don't try to stick you with factory replacement costs. Also, if they ask, you need to be sure that you tell the insurance adjuster that all equipment was mounted in the factory locations.

My insurance company told me that if the equipment was installed OR simply wired into the vehicle.. then it is covered. Any items stolen that are just IN the vehicle... CD's, sunglasses, etc. etc. might be filed on home owner's insurance... but I'm not sure that's even worth it.

Neck,

There are places in the vehicle for factory mounted equipment when you get the premium sound system. I am not sure if Ford even offered such an option in you particular vehicle but I would be sure that you let them know everything was bolted in place instead of just sitting there.
