Question Factory Power Rating

I am looking to upgrade my factory cassette deck to the 6-disc in-dash unit. I had the CD changer in my mustang and would like to go back with that. I like to keep the factory look on some things! I have seen lots of them on e-bay or in the classifieds here. Now my questions: What are the power ratings per speaker and max RMS on this head unit? I know a lot of ford "premium" stereos are rated at 80 watts max. That is not much compared to the Alpine CD players I was looking at. They were pushing 50 watts per channel.

Let me know whatcha know.

thanks,

Ox

I think its safe to assume that the factory stereo will be roughly half as powerful as most aftermarket stereos.

Keep in mind that PEAK or MAX ratings really don't mean much.. RMS rating is the most important.

Most aftermarket head units are in the 20 to 25 watt RMS range.
The factory deck is likely in the 10 to 15 watt RMS range. (PER CHANNEL)
