Angry New Head Unit

I just got a new Kenwood KDC-V7017 head unit. Looks like it will be nice, but the guy thas going to do the install for me sighed when I told him my f150 was a 2003. He said that the install kits for '03's arent even out yet.
What luck.
Anyone know where I could get one, he said he would contact some people and try to find one in the area. How could they not have made one yet?

Thanks, just venting

Good heavens. The dash kits have been the same for years. I just installed an Alpine HU in my '03 Screw using the same kit I had for a '99 SuperCab and an '01 Sport Trac.
Best Buy, Circuit City, Crutchfeild, or whoever is local can provide you with a kit.

Talking NO WAY, well thats good to hear.

The guy doing the install said they changed it for '03, and I called best buy and they told me they were different for '03 and that they didnt have any in yet. Best Buy was probably BS'n just because I didnt want the install done there.

Anyway thanks for the good news.

I bought mine at Wal-Mart. They're all the same... I've got an '03... got pix in my gallery below...

and if you've already got the HU, spend the $3 on the pullers ( or use a cut up coat hanger), $9 on the harness adapter, and a couple bucks for connectors (blade or whatever style you prefer, solder if you like...), and do it yourself. Very simple job, and then you know what's been done, and if anything goes wrong you have a pretty good idea of where to start, plus you will be less likely to break someone out of negligence...

Neck,

Do U recall if the factory harness in your truck is 16 or 24 pin??

My 03 Expedition with an April 03 build has a newfangled 24 pin harness which nobody seems to know about yet. It seems that they started using next years model wiring in midyear 03 for some reason. Crutchfield so far has sent me the wrong harness twice this week.....In Crutchfield's defense though, the original harness they sent is the same from the pictures of the 03 install instructional sheet they sent.

I'm getting desperate for answers at this point before my 30 day stereo test ride ends..........

Thanks for any info,

TL
