HU replacement question

I am going to change my stock headunit for an Alpine. The only problem is that the stock HU whole is to big for the Alpine unit. Do I need to make brackets to hold it up or is there a kit I can buy that will solve my problem.

You'll be able to find the kit at ANY car audio shop. Shouldn't be more than $20

KingRanchSCO2 your Alpine head unit doesn't seem to fit the Crutchfield kit. I looked to be too big for it. Is that a picture flaw or is the bottom hole bowed in?

you're right. the bottom hole is a little bowed in. but when i went out there to look at it, the bottom hole isnt supporting the head unit at all, there is another brace above it that is doing it. i'm going to contact crutchfield and have them send me a new one. thanks for pointing that out aadbrogers

The first kit that I got from Crutch was also slightly bowed.... gotta keep them honest.

Installing the kit with the pocket on top with prevent the stress that is causing it it bend. If you look at the other pictures in this thread the headunit is on the bottom and there are no gaps around it.

The headunit is too long to fit on the top, so it's hitting the dash support in the back (which is why it's a bit hard to get it so slide all the way in). That pushes the back down, which make the kit distort a bit.
