Question attn! factory HU experts

I have a chance to buy an in-dash 6 cd changer from a 2001 Ranger. I know it can be adapted to my '97 F250 Light Duty. It has an output for a factory amp. Is this adaptable to be used with an aftermarket amp? If not, is there a way to use this HU with an aftermarket amp other than using high level speaker outputs? Thanks!

The short answer is probably no. Most stock stereo equipment uses a differential type signal whereas aftermarket units do not.

You could use line out converters, but if the radio is designed for a system that uses the ford amps and you don't have them i think you might be out of luck, ive never heard of anyone hooking anything like that up.
