CamperShell/Tonneau Covers

I am a first time truck owner and bought a 2001 SuperCrew Lariat. I would like any recommendations on the following:

I want a camper shell and don't know which brand or model to buy or look at...my husband wants a tonneau cover.. We were told that once you put a camper shell on you cannot see out the back window and have to use the mirrors..

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

I think you would have to decide first how you want to use your space in the back. I have two large dogs so I went for the camper shell. I got an ARE Z series. About not being able to see out the back window, well, the visibility is not as good as without the shell but I can still see. Sure I use my two outside mirrors but I was used to use them even before I got the shell. If I didn't have my dogs I would've gone for the tonneau for sure.

Thumbs up

Lid is very functional unless you intend on carrying large items or some big ol dogs.

Anyone know of an online distributor?

the supercrew beds aren't that big, so I would recommend the cap. Besides Snuglid, also look at A.R.E. and Leer. Both make Supercrew sized lids.

Caps are more practical I guess, but I don't like the reduced visibility that comes with a cap. I just had installed a Leer 600 series fiberglass lid on my 97 reg cab short bed. It looks pretty sharp and now I can secure things in the bed.I don't hardly ever haul tall things so that's why I went with the lid and I think they make the truck look sharper than with a cap.
