Alarm window up/down module question?

I'm having a Python 991 (5702P) installed in my wife's truck next Sat and at first she was against paying $500+ for alarm/start system but now she asked if I could make the windows roll up and down. The DEI window module 530T I can get online for $50 bucks but the dealer who is installing the alarm wants around $80 bucks to install OR $150-$170 more if I bought the module from them which includes install.

My question to you guys who have installed the window module, would it be easy to add it after they did the main install?

I'm kind of getting confused on your pricing you're saying. You can buy it on line for $50 or buy it locally for $80? I get that. Are they wanting $150 to $170 installed with the module? It takes about an hour to put it in so depending on their labor I would say that's pretty good. I charge an hour labor or more to install automatic windows. Got to pull the door, run the cables and all. When I install these I run power to the battery. Have you ever rolled all your windows up with the truck OFF? Look how much amperage that sucks when when the truck is off. 10 Gauge wire or slightly smaller gauge all the way.

Other factors to look at is "how does the wiring go from between the body of the truck and the door?" Most newer trucks don't have a simple run-through grommet. More and more are using a plug-in Molex harness that has a camber lever locking it into the door or the body. These are no fun to run the wiring through. I charge even more to do these since it can take a couple hours sometimes to get that plug out and be able to drill wires to run through. On the F150 you have to remove the parking brake assembly just to get your hand in there to pull the plug socket out. I always wind up with cut up hands after a job like that.

Some vehicles have auto down windows on the passenger side too. You will have to run wires directly to the motor on the passenger door if this is the case. There goes another hour of work.

I actually hate installing them. Although I did install the close only module on my Excursion and Expedition rear wing windows. Always leaving them open and it gets rain in.

Here is the price run down:

[1] $50 I buy module + $80 they install my module
[2] $150-$170 they supply the module AND install it

So you think it would be worth just paying them the extra $150-$170 and having them install it? From what I read already it seems like a PITA

BTW, dude you have to return my email question. I'm 2 weeks away from having this same system installed in my truck and taking the one I bought from you out. I really need that 2 way module upgrade.

Pay the 170 instead of buying it online. As long as your shop is an authorized DEI dealer then you get the full manufactures warranty.

KC....Pshhhh who drops the parking brake? I ran 2 sets of speaker wire plus the wires for the up down with you removing it...lol

If I'm just running two wires for an actuator I'll just do it the hard way but the majority of time I'm installing a power window/lock package with quite a few wires. When I do that I will usually remove the plugs from the body, dremel the guts out of them leaving a shell so I can just run wiring right through it. On a truck with no power the only wires running through this boot are two speaker wires and two wires for the door latch. Since I'm running solid wires for the window kit anyways I'll just patch the wires together together solid. Plug the harness back together and all is good with even more room to run stuf through.
