Viper Alarm Issues: Remote transmits truck does not recieve

My remote on my Viper 5900 alarm system will no longer arm/disarm, start...etc my truck. Everything still lights up and the buttons still work on the remote. When I press them the icon displays transmit but there is nothing from the truck side of things.

I've heard it could be easy as removing the neg terminal on the battery for 30 secs or as difficult (only bc i'm not familiar w/ the process) as reprogramming the remote/system.

If anyone can shed some light please help.

I noticed this morning that the LED is constant when I turn the truck off till sometime after the doors are locked or closed. It was off when I returned to the truck after work.

Hopefully this sheds a little more light on the subject. I never realized how used to the remote I was till I had to manually unlock the doors.

You may want to try and replace the "AAA" battery in the remote and then reset the valet button on your truck. Give it a try...

Sounds like you're in valet mode.

Open the door, and hit lock, unlock, lock in rapid succession. That will remove it from valet or standby mode.

I tried to use the remote to get it out of valet mode but it would not work. When i did it in the cab (ign on/off valet button) i think i got out of valet mode and the remote beeped. However the remote still shows the truck unlocked, full battery (replaced that too just in case: nothing changed), and when I hit lock it shows the tsmt icon but nothing happens. Everyonce in a while after trying the buttons out it will beep saying there was no response but for the most part its silent.

Thanks for the Ideas...got any more?

Are you sure the remote is actually transmitting? Have you tried a different remote?

Thanks for the help. Its finally fixed.

It took 20mins on hold waiting for tech support from Directed electronics to Send me a .pdf showing how to reprogram the remote. Took all of 30seconds.

FYI to add/reprogram a remote on Viper alarm systems to the default settings. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK or call Directed Electronics and wait for them to send you and email.
1 -Open a door (any door)
2- Turn key to ignition ON (NOT START)
3- Within 10 secs of turning key to ignition on press the VALET BUTTON twice and hold (Push once, release, Push twice, and HOLD UNTIL AFTER STEP 4) The truck will horn once at you and the LED will blink once letting you know your are in the right channel.
4- (STILL HOLDING VALET BUTTON) Press the lock button on your REMOTE. It will beep letting you know it has been accepted.
5- Release VALET button. Remove key. And try out the remote.

No promises but it worked so far for me.

Should be in your manual also... or at least the install manual that is provided in the box.
