Remote start

Looking at a Compustar, -(2BLEDR) on their website it says
includes anti-grind and optional starter-kill relay.

I understand the anit-grind but what the heck is optional starter-kill relay?

Anybody know anything good or bad about the compustar?
Also is 1500ft good enough?

The optional starter-kill relay is a relay that blocks power to the starter. If the alarm goes off because someone broke into your truck, then tried to crank it through the ignition switch the starter-kill relay would be activated and would not let the starter turn over.

As for 1500ft being good enough. Picture the length of a football field. A football field is roughly 420ft long. So 1500ft would be roughly 3 1/2 football fields long. So 1500ft is pretty darn good when most 2way alarms systems advertise 1200ft.

Ran into a guy today and he was saying to get a FM Frequency not a AM, type remote starter, as the AM frequency type is prone to more interference. Looking at Compustars site pretty much everything they have is AM based.
Is this correct. As the starter im looking at says its good for 1200ft but then on another site it says the remote itself is good for only 800ft.

You should email that KC Autosound guy. I've never bought anything from him but I always read positive things about him. He would probably share some info

For some reason his site is kinda screwy with the contact us form. I have no problems at home with it but my work computer doesn't do so well. You can email him at travis @ kcautosound.com or shoot him a call at 816-868-2481.

I chatted with him again today. He said he was staying home tomorrow since it was going to be 9 degrees outside. Wife's orders....lol Might give him a ring. Last year he went down pretty hard with pneumonia so I think he's taking it easy this season, however when I talked to him today he said it was 14 degrees and he was working in a parking lot! Thank god for Carhart...lol

i went with the viper and its the best i have ever had i even drove a mile from the house and tested it and the darn thing worked lol. plus it has many add on options for the remote. such as mine i can roll the windows up and down plus close the sunroof and lock and unlock the tailgate. the factory alarm works wih it also which is great when you park it where you will be around it. i splurged and brought the transponder to go with it now i can start the truck up from the internet and cellphone plus i see where its at at all times so when the wife is driving it i can see where its at and even arm the alarm if she runs in the store and forgets to set it lol
