Underdrive Pulley help

Hey guys,

I just got in the troyer ud pulleys and was wondering if i should just take it to the ford dealer or do it my self. how much should i expect the dealership should charge me. if i did it myself i heard of different people installing them differently. one person says you don't have to take certain things off while putting the new pulley's in and another person says something completely different on installing these things.

chris49, you can install them yourself fairly easy if you have a bit of knowledge about vehicles if not plan on paying around $250-$300 to have them installed

Chris,

I think pulleys are a great mod. But reading over your questions - you shouldn't do the installation yourself. I could be wrong, but you don't sound like you really know what could be involved. Better safe, than sorry. Shop the job around. There may be a speed shop in your area that could do it for you.

dealership labor

The Ford dealership charged me $285.00 labor to install the troyer pullies on my 05. I did notice a 2 degree increase in cylinder head temp as a result. but thats an average because the cyl. head temps. rise and fall small ammounts. no more squeal on the up shift with the new Gatorback belt. I also notice the blower motor slows durring low speed idle. but no problems to report.

My underdrive pulley was installed in half an hour. I paid for 30 minutes of labor.

UD pulleys are cake to install. Takes hardly any time at all....the most difficult/time consuming thing is pulling off the dampener...and that isnt a hard thing to do either.

If you have an impact gun it makes it a whole lot easier...
