i will try to have some better pics up tomorrow of bracket and entire setup.

i bought the adapter (below) and attached it to handheld scanner, then to cb antenna. when i use cb (only when i go off roading with friends) i unscrew it from scanner and into cb. i get pretty good range with cb and excellent with scanner. i can get my town clearly from around 4 towns away while at school ( i will check mileage tomorrow also)

i love this setup, i have radio shack everything except antenna, i know RS isn't the best stuff, but it works fine for me and was pretty inexpensive

this is how i have mine on the tool box. i just used the mirror mounts that come with the antennas and use only half of the mount and bolted it straight to the tool box. i think it looks great and it works great too. i get amazing reception...but i must admit the PA is more fun.

now i have a quick question
does anyone park in a garage or anything where the antennas hit

if so do you use just regular fiberglass antennas or flexible antennas??

thanks

and i dont park in parking garages or any garage...mostly because my truck wouldnt fit with or without the antennas. haha but i have an 8" lift on 38" tires and my fiberglass antennas dont hit any of the drive throughs around here...but if you are worried about it, i remember seeing a spring mount that allows the antennas to move...if they cant move, they will break. so look into that...im not sure where i saw them at...but maybe someone on here will be able to tell you. hope that helps

2 black 4ft firesticks gets me 10 mile range with radioshack CB #17-650( the compact model 8 watt). quality cabling, antenna placement, and tuning of the whips is crucial for best reception and range. for those looking at "kickers/amplifiers" they are illegal with use on CB radios (if you get caught that is)

heres how the CB is mounted

only picture i have with my antanae is my old sig:

you can't really see how its mounted but i ran the wiring under carpet, out thru the whole in cab behind rear passenger seat, thru the bed made a quick disconnect on toolbox for if i needed to pull the toolbox off, and ran the cable to the middle of toolbox where i had my 108" whip mounted.

the use of an RF amplifier with CB's is against FCC laws.

that is the only way to run it, but with dual whips, the tuning must be the exact same for each one of the antennas or the cabling, antennas and or CB itself will begin getting VERY hot in a short amount of time. it's basically the same principle as a microwave oven (which uses radio waves to heat food).

a kicker will increase your output wattage to 40 or 50 watts, depending on the strength of your kicker. the FCC regulates the CB wattage to 5 watts
