Remote Start for 2008 Screw
Remote Start for 2008 Screw
I want to get a remote start for my truck. It already has Keyless and Alarm. I've read the post's about kcautosound. Question is..Which brand or model should I get? I was thinking about the Code Alarm CA 440TW single button 2 way confirming. Also, I am somewhat colorblind. Would that be a problem if I tried to install it myself and how difficult would it be? I have been quoted an installed remote at a local auto-sound shop of $350.00. Any feedback welcome.
Update.. I have decided to go with the local installer. All on one fob. Will be installed this coming Tuesday. After checking kcautosound, I thought $76 dollars was too high for shipping.

$76? Silly. His default shipping always shows next day express shipping with the UPS module. If you look at it you will see that he gives you many, many different options from the standard UPS Ground on up. He also offers FedEx, USPS and international shipping.
Just trying to stick up for the guy. He provides a great service to us all.

$76 is not silly to me. He may provide great service. I'm not doubting that. After I went through all the steps for the order, $76.01 was added to bill.."Shipping"..That turned me away. Maybe he should get away from Default shipping and allow customers to piick their own shipping method and then total the bill. I figured then, I could put a little more with it and get it local and not have to worry about long distance service or installing it myself.

that just doesn't make sense. I have done probably about 30+ purchases through his website and I have ALWAYS been able to manually change the shipping options. Maybe you should contact him and he can do a manual order for you if your computer is keeping you from doing it.
As I said, tomorrow I will have it installed locally. He had a chance, but when it was added to my cart, the $76.01 turned me away..for a total of $271. I figured for another $75 dollars, I can have the pro's here at the local aftermarket shop install it and me not have to worry about fouling something up. They do good work.
He's a really good guy and a struggling small business owner. It's a shame to see him loose a sale because someone doesn't know how to work his website. Good luck on your installation and hopefully the installer takes care of your vehicle the way that you would yourself. That's the whole reason I decided to do my installations myself after I seen what my local shop had done to my wiring.
Its OK Dirty. You win some, loose some.
Hey Dukerl42 I seen you were in McComb. I know Ron that owns R&R Audio there in McComb, Miss. Is that who is doing your vehicle. I see him every once in a while when we go to dealer trade shows.

Dirty, How dare you say I don't know how to work his website. Would you like me to email you the page for the order with the shipping? No where on that page does it say anything about choosing a different shipping method. It just gives the total price and an option to checkout. Checkout to me means get out the credit card and enter your information. I didnt just fall off the turnip truck. I have ordered many item's on line and I know how to work a website to get to the checkout page. ..As I said, maybe all the shipping options should be on the page before the price is totaled and then go to Checkout.
I don't believe R&R Audio is in business now. It may have been the same place I had mine done today. Just a different name. They did a great job.
