Piias or hellas?
I do most of my driving on the road but when winter comes i spend lots of time up in the mountains. Well, at night it is very dark and my stock lights just do not cut it for me. I am trying to decide between Hella and Piia lights. Iam partially incline to buy the piias because of the remote control feature. On the other hand the 40' series Hellas are about $90.00 cheaper. I think performance is about the same. Has anyone gone thru this process? Is there something else out there or any drawbacks to these lights? thanks for any input.

You may want to check out the Hella "off-road " lights like the 3000 or 4000 series. The cornering beams give unbelievable field of view and the driving beams reach out farther than you'll ever need. check out http://www.susquehanna.com/susq/index.htm for lots of info on Hella and some really good prices. They supply lighting to a lot of SCCA rallye teams
I have no way of comparing the two, however in the bumper I have piaa wide angle 85W super white lamps wired to come on with the parking lights (no switch). I also have round piaa's behind the grill (pencil beam conventional design) superwhite also. they are wired to the high beams. The combo is fantastic! great side visibility all the time and brilliant high beams. I can see about a mile with the high beams!
By the way piaa makes the finest bulbs in the industry with the superwhite technology and the very efficient 55=85 and 85=135 watt bulbs. The absolute brightest in the industry.
If you decide the hellas fit your needs better consider a set of piaa 85 watt superwhite bulbs to replace the standard hella halogen lamps.
I am waiting for piaa to make 9007 replacement bulbs for the reg headlights too. I put a set of piaa replacement bulbs in my miata and they are so good it does not need any addl lighting.

Yeah mudder, I seem to remember a nice guy on here with a beautiful black truck. He had a few of the KC daylighters. If you ask me he didn't have quite enough yet, I live in Canada and I only notice a slight glow when he has them all on.

I like the KC daylighters better than PIAA 520's. I have two PIAA's on my trucks brush guard and am always wondering if they are on, because the light does not make that big of a difference. I have KC daylighters on my CJ7 and I love them.

jsbakke, have you got the fogs or drivings? The amber or clear? I converted from the amber standard 520's to the 520 SMR clear lights, and the difference was huge. I'll check em out if we can get the Colorado Chapter together, I might even be able to get you the upgrade for free (no promises though, LOL)
