Arrow SVT Bumper Cover

Well, it finally came. Took it to the Ford dealer to get it painted but found out that in this city Ford DOES NOT have a body shop (what is wrong with this picture??) They recommended to take it over to the BUICK(???) guys since they take all their stuff to be painted there; 200 bucks later I think the bumper looks a bit lighter, but they said it still has to be "baked" by the summer sun to match the rest of the truck(??) .
Any ways, I'll be posting pics soon...

BAKED BY THE SUMMER SUN? I think someone is pulling your leg. If anything, the sun is going to make it FADE. Did they put clearcoat on it? The shop that did mine painted it at the same time as they painted my truck, and it was exactly the same color. Now it looks factory .

Wink

I don't really know. But what can I do now? It doesn't look that bad, it's only when you see at certain angle. I'm getting used to it, and as I said, is not that bad.

this is what you get when you take it to a BUICK dealer! no, not all ford dealerships have body shops.. that's why smaller local body shops would be much better.. i know a few that could match any color you wanted... but those factory colors are a guessing game.. i had a 96 monte carlo and had my ford body shop paint the side after an accident, you could tell in the sun there was more metallic flakes in it than the rest of the car.. bake in the summer sun?? sounds like the guy that told you that was half baked himself! bet he never heard of computer matching, or a clearcoat

Well, see, I've never done this kind of stuff before so if Ford is recommending this Buick place (since they claim they have all their parts painted there) there is no reason for me not to trust them. Of course now I know, and shame on me if I make the same mistake twice.

As I said, the job is not terrible. It does have clear coat, I do know that. I asked my neighbor today if he could see the difference and he said it wouldn't be worth the trouble to have it repainted. I'll be posting pics soon for you to look at.

99flareside:

It came from West Wings (or is it Wings West?) and it was not cheap, 395 plus shipping. Plus couple hundred more to paint it. Shhhh, wife does not know all this. As you can see in my sig. I'm done with mods. for now. I want to start saving for a supercharger.

SVTaudio:

Need to know the url (or address) where your image is and then add at the end, that's all.

Cool

Alf, that looks really good! Especially with those wheels. I can't tell the difference in the paint, either.

man!! you can't even tell that is a regular f150 stx. I have an STX and I bought it because it was the closest to looking like a lightening without the price tag. I hope to do some mods myself soon.
Great replica, anything under the hood that help that 4.6l? Just curious.
