I'm going to second the V1. You really get what you pay for and most of that is service down the line. When new technology comes out you can usually send in your V1 for updating. Most of the time it's free, but sometimes, in the event of a major overhaul, it'll cost a small amount. Most recently that I know of, folks had to completely replace their unit to get the new technology and it was a small fee with the trade in of the old unit. Othewise software upgrades are usually free.

That combined with an excellent warranty and to notch customer service make it really shine. Nearly all of my motorcycle friends I rode with had V1's. One of the guys was taking his off his bike and managed to drop it while he was walking, as it hit the ground, the display plate came off and bounced under his foot and he crunched it. Repaired free of charge by V1.

So, aside from a fantastic piece of equipment, you also get the customer care on the back end as well making it a worthwhile investment.

Or you could just slow down...I've learned that it tends to be MUCH less expensive.

Side note...I said all my friends had V1's. I didn't. Guess who wound up with the $255 speeding ticket going through Parker Tx?

for laser jammers, stick with Blinder X-treme.

Though the older Blinders (M20/40) were generally regarded as decent jammers, the newer ones that have come out (M25/45) seem to be having problems with consistancy in jamming. As I said before, the diode jammers are generally regarded in the community as having the best performance overall.

Off the top of my head, here's the list I can remember:

LED- Blinder Series, Escort ZR3/BEL 905

Diode- LPP, AL, LI, Lidatek

I personally like the K40,

abit more expensive then i believe they wanted to spend. however i look at it is how much was the ticket/insurance issues etc. if it saves you once it paid for itself.

I also like the fact that its totally hidden with only 2 little leds in the interior, good deterant for those smash and grabbers that see a escort etc stuck to the glass.

Once you get use to the chirps you reconize whats hitting you, plus this generates very very few false positives

My guess is in another 5 years we wont have to worry about getting clocked, Im sure some law maker in california will pass something that you will just get a speeding ticket through your incar gps nav system and you get the ticket in the mail. LOL

I like my Escort Solo. Its wireless, and has yet to let me down. Driving I-70 through Kansas, quite hilly from Manhattan to K.C, it detected speed traps at least a hill, sometimes two, before i got there. These were long sweeping hills, so it took roughly 40 seconds from the alert to actually SEE the cop. Plenty of time. I use Energizer rechargable AA's, and they last on overage 4 months. I'm bad about turning it off, but it does it itself. After 30 minutes or so.

I have the Escort Passport and can't speak highly enough of it. It has saved me many times driving from east TX to west TX. I purchased last year & at that time did alot of research. I found out that Escort actually bought (owns) Beltronics. However, the company spends more qa/qc on the Escort line, thus it gets better reviews. At the time I purchased, the passport had better reviews than the Valentine. I have also seen good stuff on the Vector, but not as much as on Escort, thus I chose Escort. At the end of the day it's personal opinion & how much money you want to spend. The Escort actually has programmable features that you can download as more options become available. Or at least that's what they claim.:o

Fuzz Busters

I've stopped using them...

Set the cruise at 75 on limited access highways with a 70 speed limit and keep your head out of your ***...99 times out of 100, at that speed, Smokey will watch you go by and wave. That's all the "radar jamming" that I need.

Haven't had a ticket since back in my Mustang days when one of Kentucky's finest pulled me over and was actually laughing when he came up to the window and read me the radar report. He was a Mustang fan and we talked about my Cobra wheels, my suspension setup...he loved my car...then the SOB wrote me a fat ticket that sent me to traffic school. Actually, dude could have sent me to jail, so I guess he was okay. Ahhh, youth...

The city I live in right now has more money than it knows what to do with so all of our police cars are 07 Chevy Tahoes. I’m guessing that they have the top of the line, cutting edge radar or laser guns or whatever is the best. What should I buy to protect myself from them besides the obvious answer of going the speed limit?

The wife and I share an Escort Passport 8500 and I couldn't be happier. Whichever vehicle we drive we take it with us although it usually stays in her Mariner since she has farther to drive to work than I do.

I had an Escort Passport 8500 for years and it was awesome. I sold it recently only because Escort has come up with a new detector that I will be buying, the Passport 9500i. It uses GPS to eliminate false alarms at locations like grocery stores and such. It is pricey but I drive from San Antonio to Houston at least monthly and it will pay for itself quickly.

Just do the speed limit. They may protect you from tickets but they don't increase your reaction time nor do they lower your chance of surviving an accident
