Unhappy decrease mileage w/K&N

Hey y'all! - Installed a K&N in the stock airbox and noticed a drop in gas mileage as computed by the on board computer. It dropped from about 14.5 to 13.6! Any suggestions? Anyone with a similar experience?

one thing are you letting your foot hang down aginst the floor board more than normal. i lost milage playing around and trying to find where the "power increase" was. that might have something to do with it. if not i have no idea. hope this helps

did you reset your computer?

i did, and saw a .5-1 mpg increase in the first tank of gas.

if not, you may have to wait several tanks until your computer "relearns".

Thanks guys. I have tried not to alter my driving habits at all. To reset the computer, do I disconnect the battery and turn on the headlights to discharge the electrical system?

Wink

Just keep driving normally, dbunch. Like you, I noticed absolutely NO change when I installed my Airaid. My truck is my daily driver, and after about 4 days of regular commuting (city and hwy) I began to detect modest changes. After about a week (I'm guessing here) my MPG took off! Just be patient.
