Which E-fans for 04 + Up...????

I'm having a hard time deciding on which e-fans to go with. I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of $$$ on a system but if necessary I will.

Personally I'd like to build my own set-up but don't really know where to start, anyone have a how-to kit, or Link I can go to??? I have an electronics background so installing and wiring it up will not be a problem.

Options include:

Troyer Performance: $429
Dual 16" E-Fans

JDM engineering: $525
Single 16" fan but with shroud

Jusnes Modified: $315
Dual 16" E-Fans

Perma-Cool: $470 - Don't know if it will fit 05 f-150
Dual 13" fans

or

Custom fans, wiring, relays, and temp. sensors.... ~$100

Thanks all!!!

Andy

Just food for thought, but I am building my own system right now. I have all the parts I think I need, just have to actually install them. I am using a pair of 12" fans that came off a late-model Camaro (I believe). I also purchased a SPAL fan controller on Ebay for about $80. Really, the whole install will only cost me the price of the SPAL unit, since the fans came off my father project truck and were free.

Hi.

Do you happen to know the cfm ratings for those fans?

A Camaro's cooling needs are very different than your truck's. Why do you think TP specified dual 16" high-cfm fans?

If you overheat ( Texas, right?) this will be the reason.

To the OP - check out SPAL's website - http://www.spalusa.com/ - both for very high quality fans, and a very nice controller. Also download the PWM controller manual; inside there are wiring/connection diagrams for several configurations. Another resource is Mad Enterprises: http://www.madenterprise.com/F150.htm, for fans, controllers, kits, etc...

OP - you can also Search this site - a LOT of info on DIY installs here - check out "Patman03SprCrw" - he's got some great posts on this topic.

Now - my personal position on this ( well-known by now, lol!), is to buy new, high quality fans instead of junkyard donors or marginal eBay 'superdeals'. If you are going to be depending on this system to reliably cool a daily-driver in ALL conditions, for a install&forget' number of years, then every facet/component and the install itself needs scrutiny, care and considered application of the term 'quality'. Weakest link will bite you in the ***, at the least desirable moment, usually far from help. If you are not prepared to follow through on this in full, just leave the stocker on there and choose another mod to spend your $$ on.

Yes, there will be plenty of folks to tell you they spent $25 and cobbled a system together and it is perfect. I will not be one of them. Best advice I can give you. Your call.

I'm funny this way, so forgive me, okay? I really DO mean well - most will disagree. Oh, well.

Sincerely, Good luck ... to both of you.
