Since I'm a noob at the whole CB thing, what are some general tips for using it? I've heard that channel 19 is the most commonly used, but I never get anything there. Instead around here everybody seems to be on ch6.

Do truckers on the interstates and major highways like to have a chat with a "non-trucker", or do they tend to keep to themselves? What's the best way to get a chat going? Again, I've read saying "breaker" is the "official" way to do this, though nobody else seems to say this. Or does the CB antenna on the roof give things away, and truckers try to radio you?

noone says breaker unless they interupt a conversation, say two people are talking about something and you want to jump in on convo, say breaker anyone hear me? and so on, most areas have there own ch hot spots like here there is a select group of cb people on ch's 17, 19, 23,26, 11, and some on 15

Saying breaker breaker is the offical way to interupt a conversation for an emergancy transmission, I would not use it to start a conversation with anyone. as for as starting a conversation, just listen and jump in with some comments. most drivers wont know the dif between u and a trucker.

Saying "breaker breaker" is not the official way to interrupt a conversation with emergency traffic.
The correct way is to say "break"... By saying "break" the other stations would say "go ahead, break"

Go ahead and say "breaker breaker" and I'll bet they'll call you a good buddy.

I was just quoting the above post, I don't get to heavy in cb, the little 4 watts just does not do it for me.

I love my radio, I have a midland and a 4' magnetic base antenna on the roof and it does everything I want it too, and it is great for long trips, I can tell where the cops are at and i there are any traffic jams etc. Oh and as for "non truckers" we are referred to as four wheelers and sometimes are not liked to well lol

Hey Impact9, I really like the look of the CB mounted in the console. Is it just your normal double DIN install, or did you have to fab something? Also, how is it mounted? i.e. bolted in, etc.? I would really like to do that with mine (of course, that would be an excuse to get rid of the factory stereo too)!!

I just cut out the cubby hole in my radio adapter kit. I've got a newer CB to install but it'll have screws holding it in place. This one is a tight fit and friction does a good job securing it now.
