Yes, that's it. The grey shaft connecting the engine pulley to the fan clutch/fan assembly has to be undone. The thread is a RIGHT HAND THREAD no matter what the Haynes manual says. Undo the shaft by turning it counterclockwise (to the left as you look at the engine from the front of the truck). Then the whole assembly will drop, and you won't have room to remove it unless you unbolt the shroud first and pull everything upwards at once.

It really isn't that bad of a job. For me, changing the rear shocks was worse because one of the upper nuts was stripped.
