Calling all Airaid owners.....
E mac,
Yes indeed, I as well have an AIRAID intake system on my truck and have the problem with the whistle at idle. The noise actually got worse once the outside temperature got hotter. I talked with one of the Evergreen technicians about this problem and I was able to deduce that the noice was coming from the throttle bypass hose, which attaches to the AIRAID intake plenum. What seems to occurr is; at idle speeds when the throttle plate is closed more air is diverted through the bypass hose which seems to set up a resonance frequency (whistle) in the plenum assembly. The solution that I found that dramatically reduced this resonance was to switch the locations of the throttle bypass hose and the valve cover breather hoses on the AIRAID intake plenum.
Good Luck!

bigred4x4,
Were you the one that posted in an earlier thread that you live close to Evergreen Performance and was going to take your truck to them so they could hear this? If so did you do that? Anyway... I reinstalled the Airaid today and switched the two hoses like you suggested and that did reduce the noise a lot. It's hardly noticable inside the cab now ( much more tolerable ). This did not seem to affect the performance at all. Thank you very much for your help !!!
Gotta love this site !!!

E Mac,
Yes, I had some very detailed discussions with the technicians at Evergreen, as they are located about 20 miles from my house. I did not have to bring my truck to them as I was able to describe the problem accurately. We brainstormed a simple yet effective solution to this problem (switching hoses), which seemed to work. I believe a better design solution would have been to place the two hose bibs located on the plenum, close to the throttle body like the stock design. This would eliminate the resonance problem that exists today. I also mentioned that they should design a cold air baffle system for the filter element. On another post area (engines) someone mentioned that they took the original filter housing and modified it to work as a cold air intake for the FIPK. I am glad this fix worked for you!
