Red face Trailer Lights????

I have a 97 f150 with the factory towing package with the 7 trailer light connector. My Question and problem is, Does anyone know how to get this connector to work? I have had two F150s and both did the same thing I get NO lights when I plug the trailer into this connector. Is there something that need to be pluged in maybe under the dash? to make this work? Seems like I saw something about this subject somewhere in here before.

Dreamer,
I ordered my truck with the towing package and there was a bag of parts in the glove box that had to be installed in order to get power to the wiring (which was all in place).
Mine is a Super Duty, so there may be differences. My parts plugged into the Power Distribution Box under the hood (driver's side - near firewall). The directions were in the bag with the relay and fuses, etc.
You might wanna check with your friendly Ford parts department.
Good luck...
