Cool Pullies

I just got a set of underdrive pullies and I cann't get the factory crank pully off. When I try to turn the nut on the pully the pully and every thing else turns with it. Also will a regular gear puller work or do I need a harmonic balancer puller. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Used a harmonic balancer on my 97 GT. Worked great and kept it from spinning.

Hey There,

The Underdrive crank pulley bolts ON TO the harmonic balancer with 4 or 5 bolts. DO NOT take the bolt off that holds on the balancer as you do not need to take it off and unless you have a torque wrench you will not properley seat it again.
Let us know how it goes.

Hope your installation of the pullies went well. Looks like a tough job. I am very interested in the results of your changes and how complicated and time consuming the whole process was. Do you feel this was worth the time and money well spent?

Actually you do take off the factory harmonic balancer but first you must take off the water pump pully wich you need a Ford tool to do (I borrowed one for autozone) then you can take the crank pully/harmonic balancer off from the top, and replace the two pullies with the aftermarket ones, I used a regular ratchet to put the new harmonic balancer on and it all works quit nicely.
