White Gauges
Has anyone installed the white gauges on a 99 F150 from the online store? I would like to install these on my 99 F150. Is this installation ease or a pain? Thanks for any info.

Triton, I got the white face gauges for my truck from NR Automobile Accessories, which is actually $10.00 cheaper than getting them from the online store. The quality is excellent. but the problem I am having is getting them installed. I would do it myself but I guess they are a pain to install, you have to recalibrate the speedo and tach I guess.I called a speedometer shop and they wanted $200.00 just to install!! I called my Ford dealer and they won't even touch it. so then I called NR auto. and they said they would do it for $75.00, but they are a 150 miles away. it's almost worth the drive though. So thats my .02. Does anyone else have any ideas?

97f150, thanks for the reply. I was hoping to do this myself but it sounds like too big of a job. Anyone do this themselves?

I ordered the white face gauge and was not impressed at all!? The silk screen was not clean. Actually it looked very sloppy...... Perhaps I got a bad run? I don't know. I intend to send it back. I will try direct. I also found another company. However, theirs come in white/red & white blue. Oh.... Also one that glows in the dark. (American products company) I actually saw a gauge and it was VERY clean. If you like red/white.

GUYS,
I have a 97 F150 and installed a set of white face gauges (blue & white). Yes it does look awesome and cool specially drivin at night, but let me warn you that its one major pain in rear removing the whole gauge assembly and once you've done that then you would have to dismantle all the gauges's pointers & make sure you "mark" their position. If you don't then all of your gauges (fuel, temp, oil press, tach, speedo) will be out of calibration, you will not be a happy camper if this happens!! The next step is to peel off the old black face gauge and install the white face gauge plate. Then install the pointers back in place hoping you've marked it correctly and install the gauge assembly. This whole process took me 4 hours to do only to find out that my fuel, temp, oil, tach & speedo was a little out of calibration. I then recruited a buddy of mine who is a heavyline mechanic/electrician at a big Ford dealer and he helped me calibrate the gauges properly. So in my opinion however "cool" looking the white face gauges are, it's just not worth the hassle and headache trying to do it yourself, but if you do decide to tackle it make sure you take note of where the gauge pointers are and get an idea as to where your tach needle would be at a certain speed and use this as a guideline once you're done with the installation so you'll know if its out of calibration. Good luck and may the force be with you!!!

Where does one mark the locations of the needles? If you remove the original face whats left? Did you find a dial or something to adjust/calibrate your dials after the installation or did you have to remove the assembly? Where did you purchase your white face gauges? I did find a link that has what you describe. http://www.4apc.net
Thanks

LuvTheC,
I haven't tried it, but would this work??
1. Using a felt tip marker, mark the needle location on the original guage.
2. Remove needles and original guage, place new guage on and line up the needle on the new guage in the same place that is marked on the removed old guage. This would require a little eye-balling but I think it would work.
