When to step up the alternator

Ok, so I have been brainstorming all of my mods, many of which require more juice to run.

Here's what I have now..

1) Fog lights illuminating the bed
2) 12V air compressor
3) Two CB radios (one is a dedicated PA system)

Here's what's coming shortly...

1) An AMP driving 2 extra speakers in the bed
2) A 400 Watt (continuous) power inverter to provide power to other accesories as needed
3) Fog lights for the front
4) Fof lights illuminating the rear of the truck

and maybe...

and upgraded stereo system (probably requiring more wattage)

Now, obviously I will not be running all of these at the same time, but I may run some combination of them (i.e.: lights and compressor and speakers...)

Anyway, my question is at what point do power needs require an upgraded alternator? Is it worth it? Would an optima battery provide the juice..

I figure I probaly don't even need to upgrade, but I figured it would be nice to know when a new one would be better.

Thanks folks.

i think you may have to step up your alternator even with an Optima battery or you may want to go with an additional battery. I remember reading a thread in the audio section about a month ago that discussed this topic. happy hunting...
